The IXUS series of Canon digital compact cameras (also called ELPH in the United States) have remained popular now for several years. Canon has steadily upgraded the IXUS series and new to the market this year are the IXUS 870 IS (with 10 MP) and the IXUS 980 IS (with 14 MP). Under review is the IXUS 870 IS which, unlike the IXUS 980 IS, features a wide-angle zoom ranging from 28 to 112mm. Both on the wide-angle and the image stabilization front, Canon has been a little late off the mark.
